Notes on using Blender 2.8

  • consider different modes, e. g. Object mode and Edit mode
  • consider Vertices, Edges and Faces
  • to separate things in edit mode, select them and press "P"
  • to set the cursor location:
    • dragging with mouse: shift spacebar spacebar
    • more options: shift s
  • options to move selection to cursor: shift s
  • to rotate things by x deg around the cursor location:
    • set the cursor first
    • hit r <deg as number>
  • to create faces, multi-select vertices and hit f
  • to extrude faces, edges or vertices select them, hit e and <x,y,z> for extruding parallel to x,y,z-axis
  • add a material to faces, with color and transparency properties
  • add light to collection in order to make objects visible and set shadow properties
  • add a camera and align it towards the object in order to boarder the render view
  • add freestyle edges in order to make them visible after rendering
    • multi-select edges in edit mode,
    • right click mouse, select "Mark Freestyle Edge"
    • adjust View Layer Properties: Freestyle, Freestyle Line Set, Freestyle Line Style, Filter: Freestyle
    • adjust Render Properties: Freestyle
